Portland shade is a temoporary installation idea for Isle of Portland in UK. Isle of portland, which is famously known for it’s beautiful jurassic coastline, has also been a popular detination for many outdoor activities such as bouldering, sports climbing and water sports.

To embrace the beautiful scenery of the portland, Portland shade provide a shelter which climbers and hikers can take a rest and enjoy the landscape.

Proopsed structure consists of a minimal steel frame, which are all connected by the repetitivly wrapped by one continuous white sailing rope and weighted down by the rocks.  Use of one continous rope also represents the author’s wish for the longeivity of the isle and it’s secnery, borrowing the cultral references from China such as the one-long noodle.
